Hello Everyone,
Throughout the year I am going to forward to you some really good safety information I get from the Little League web site and Little League's Safety Newsletter. Please share the info with your coaches, parents, etc... I will also be putting posters in our sheds as a reminder of some very important rules.
The most important is PLAYER SAFETY and BATS! Please always be aware of players and bats. There should only be ONE player with a bat with one coach/parent. This is for games and PRACTICES! Player MUST have a helmet on and either bat from the plate or at a designated batting area, away from pedestrians and others. Keep your eyes on players waiting to bat and make sure none of them have a bat in their hands. NEVER have multiple players lined up for batting practices. Also, be aware of visiting teams from other leagues and inform their manager/coaches of our league's rules. Some leagues still try to have "on deck" batters and this is NOT ALLOWED at all!
Also, there MUST be two adults at all practices!!
This email has information on the bat moratorium, common injuries, and helpful reminders for coaches. Please take the time to review the attachments. We are also going to set-up a "Safety Tab" link on our web site for you to get access to our league's safety plan and other helpful information.
This year we are going to ask the team parents to also be in charge of team safety. Tracking kids with allergies, etc... I will be attending the team parent meeting to give them info.
If during the season you have any safety issues that need to be addressed or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me! Looking forward to watching some of your games....Let's play ball!
Thanks, Michele Garcia OGLL Safety Officer
